Terms of service
Last updated · 19 July 2026
- Shugo helps you track bills. It is not a bank, lender, or financial adviser.
- It costs $9.99 a month. Cancel any time.
- Your data is encrypted with a key we do not hold — so we cannot recover it if you lose your code and all your devices.
- Be honest and lawful when using it, and do not try to break it.
1. Who these terms are between
These terms are an agreement between you and Lit Technologies LLC (“Shugo”, “we”, “us”). By using the service you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use Shugo.
2. What Shugo does
Shugo records the bills you enter or import, shows you what is due and when, and keeps that information encrypted and synced between your devices. It may connect to your bank through a third-party provider to help identify recurring payments.
3. What Shugo is not
Shugo is not a bank, not a money transmitter, not a lender, and not a financial, tax, or legal adviser. Nothing in the app is advice about what to do with your money. Shugo does not make payments on your behalf — paying a bill remains between you and whoever you owe. Decisions about your finances are yours.
4. Your account
- You sign in with a Google account. Keeping that account secure is your responsibility — we strongly recommend two-step verification on it.
- You must be at least 16 years old to use Shugo.
- You are responsible for keeping your recovery code safe. We will never ask you for it.
5. Encryption, and the limit it creates
Your bills are encrypted on your device with a key we never receive. This is the core of the product, and it has a consequence you must understand before relying on Shugo: if you lose your recovery code and lose access to every device you have set up, we cannot recover your data. There is no override, no support ticket, and no legal process that changes this. We have no key.
Please keep your recovery code somewhere safe, and keep a backup. Both are available in Settings.
6. Payment, renewal, and cancellation
- The subscription is $9.99 per month, charged in advance, and renews automatically until you cancel.
- You can cancel at any time in Settings. Cancelling stops future charges; you keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for.
- Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not see or store your card details.
- If we change the price, we will tell you before it applies to you, and you can cancel.
7. Acceptable use
Please do not:
- Use Shugo for anything unlawful.
- Try to break, overload, or gain unauthorised access to the service or to other people's accounts.
- Resell or redistribute the service without our written agreement.
- Upload material you have no right to, or use the service to harm others.
Testing our security in good faith and reporting what you find to security@shugo.online is welcome and is not a breach of these terms.
8. Third-party services
Shugo relies on other companies to work: Google for sign-in and for analytics on our public pages, Plaid for bank connections, Stripe for payments, and Anthropic for the optional assistant. Your use of those services is also governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for their acts or omissions.
9. Availability
We work to keep Shugo running, but we do not promise it will be available without interruption. We may need to take it offline for maintenance, and we may change or discontinue features. If we discontinue the service altogether, we will give you reasonable notice and time to export your data.
10. No warranty
Shugo is provided “as is.” We do not warrant that it will be error-free, that reminders will always arrive, or that imported bill information will always be complete or correct. Always check with the company you owe before relying on Shugo to tell you a bill is paid or due.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, for missed payments, late fees, or interest, or for lost data. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
12. Ending the agreement
You can stop using Shugo and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly breach these terms, and we will tell you why unless we are legally prevented from doing so.
13. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms we will update this page and the date at the top, and we will highlight significant changes in the app before they take effect.
